Utsav Awasthi

Graduate Assistant

Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

I am a graduate student working with Professor George Bollas at  UTC Institute for Advanced Systems Engineering. I did my undergrad in chemical engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi, India. After graduating in 2012, I worked for four years as a shift engineer/Optimization engineer at Reliance industries Limited (RIL), a major oil and gas company in India. The opportunities at RIL as an Optimization engineer exposed me to the applications of mathematical modelling and systems engineering in chemical plants. In 2016, I joined Carnegie Mellon University to pursue MS degree in Chemical engineering. As part of the Centre for Advanced Process decision-making at CMU, I worked on a project in collaboration with TOTAL, France, to optimize production from oil wells. I joined University of Connecticut in 2018 as a doctoral candidate in the department of chemical and biomolecular engineering. I started as a graduate fellow of UTC-IASE at University of Connecticut from Fall 2018.
